Annual meeting 2015 in Borlänge

In spite of a snowstorm, 17 members came to the annual meeting of the Jussi Björling Society at the Jussi Björling Museum in Borlänge on 31 January 2015

Finances

For the fiscal year 2014, a deficit of 18,500 SEK was foreseen. The result was substantially better with a deficit of 7,350 SEK. For 2015, a surplus of 3,690 SEK is expected.

The report and accounts for 2014 and the budget for 2015 were adopted.  An unchanged membership fee for 2016 was decided.

Board

Bengt Krantz, Malmö, was reelected as chairman for two years and Per Bäckström, Stockholm, as treasurer for one year. Göran Forsling, Borlänge, Harald Henrysson, Säter, Hans Thunström, Västerås and Berit Sjögren, Stockholm were reelected as members for one year. Lars Tibell, Glemmingebro, was elected as member for one year.

Stefan Olmårs had been reelected as secretary for two years at the 2014 annual meeting.

The resigning member Kjell Olsson, Nacka, was thanked for his work on the board, primarily with the website, and received the crystal votive with Jussi’s portrait.

Auditors

Jan Roström, Stockholm and Lars Furuborg, Vingåker, were reelected as auditors for one year.

Nominating committee

Lars Möller, Stockholm, was reelected and Harold Löwing, Huddinge, and Lars Hemmingsson, Solna were elected to the committee for one year, with Hemmingsson as convening member.

Change of and addition to regulations

The meeting accepted the board’s proposal regarding the regulations. The matter will be dealt with once more at the society meeting in Stockholm on 7 March 2015.

The Jussi Björling Society Prize for 2015

The board announced that it has chosen the tenor Markus Pettersson as recipient of the Society’s Prize for 2015. The prize will be handed over in connection with the concert on Skansen’s Solliden stage in Stockholm on 8 August 2015.

The 2016 annual meeting

The meeting will take place in Stockholm on Saturday 30 January 2016. The board will later inform about location and time.

The old website: www.jussibjorlingsallskapet.com, which you are reading now, will remain as a comprehensive archive and will be able to be visited as usual and you can read it in English, click on the British flag.

The new website is intended to be a more up-to-date place for current information from August 2023. 

 

The Jussi Björling Society

The Jussi Björling Society was founded on January 7, 1989. Its task is to promote interest in and spread knowledge about Jussi Björling, his vocal art, life and career.
