Jussi Björling: Three Societies, Four Books, One Museum
New Book from the Jussi Björling Society - USA
This new book published by JBS-USA describes the founding of the three Jussi Björling Societies, the writing of the four “basic” books about the tenor, and the history and founding of the Jussi Björling Museum – all told in the enthusiastic words of the founders and authors themselves.
Contributing chapters to this book are the founders of the Jussi Björling Society – USA, the Jussi Björling Appreciation Society in the UK, and the Jussi Björlingsällskapet in Sweden, all of whom have fascinating tales of their challenges and achievements.
Authors of the major books (Jussi, by Andrew Farkas and Anna-Lisa Björling, the Jussi Björling Phonography by Harald Henrysson, The Björling Sound by Stephen Hastings, and Jussi Man Music Pictures from Jacob Forsell) also share their intriguing memories of authorship, as does the founding curator of that unique and deeply admired institution, the Jussi Björling Museum.
Illustrated with black and white photos, many previously unpublished, the book provides an important document about the efforts of enthusiasts and scholars to preserve and promote the legacy of the great tenor.
108 pages. Published by the Jussi Björling Society – USA, Inc., Sue Flaster, editor.
